Grotta Nuova di Villanova

It is the largest contact cavity between two different types of rock which may be visited in Europe. Its galleries, furrowed by and underground torrent, wind their way for 8 kilometres, of which one part is illuminated and easily visited; it is possible to admire numerous eccentric stalactites, which seem to challenge the gravity laws.Besides guided visits on the tourist route, lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes, it is also possible, by booking, to carry out speleotourist excursions to the deepest parts of the cave, lasting 3 or 5 hours (this service is currently unavailable), with guides and equipment provided by the Gruppo Esploratori. The temperature inside the cave is all year round about 11° C.
